Some sort of video about Mitsuru Adachi was always first on my list of ideas for a channel, but I was pretty precious about that and didn't wanna make one until I felt I could make one that's, yknow, good, but also could visually feel the way his work feels to me. Took a year.
Also of course when I actually give myself a deadline for a video by publicly saying "this will be out on Saturday", I then decided on Friday to redo the entire voice over track, which I then had to work on nonstop to sync back up with the visuals and still be able to release today. Yay

Love Complex is almost definitely the greatest show of all time and I'm gonna explain as much of it as I can For those who wanna watch it, if you're familiar with finding shows online in VERY LEGITIMATE ways, you can find Love Complex like that where other Jdramas, Kdramas, etc. are, albeit in not great quality. For better versions, I get nervous about linking stuff directly even though I proba...

Somehow Ranking Lost Albums

With this, Weezer and The Beach Boys have certainly been referenced in some way in more videos than any other artist. Which one of them will pull ahead of the other? Will The Replacements swoop in and take the lead instead? Maybe someone else? Who knows! Find out on the next episode! Oh yeah and this is a video where I talk about albums that are lost, unfinished, unreleased, etc. because it see...
The 18 Year Wait For An Album That Wouldn't Happen

As you could expect, for months I've barely been able to walk down the street without being told by some stranger "Make a Wrens video! "Make a Wrens video!" So I finally did it. Hope you're all happy now. I'd also like to personally thank The Wrens for barely having any video interviews or even filmed live performances. Behold the most 360p video I will ever make. Parts: 00:00 Intro 00:34 The M...

Why Did Every Band Cover "Gloria"?
Переглядів 14 тис.Рік тому
I wondered why everyone from Jimi Hendrix to Patti Smith to Tom Petty to Bill Murray covered Gloria, then I wrote about it. Also a ways into working on this video I actually found an article that touches on similar things: wknc.org/2021/03/17/why-does-everyone-cover-gloria/ I thought I already expanded on the overlapping points enough and brought up other things so it's not like many people wer...

EDIT: So suddenly the Beverly Hills music video got claimed in this video and ngl I still don't really know what I'm doing with anything here so even though it might be fair use for me I'm too scared to argue copyright stuff right now against a big company who can just say "mmm no you still can't use it bye" so enjoy a minute of blurred footage instead! - Yaknow I'm pretty sure I started trying...
Bands From Another World

I'm sadly not aware of any bands that we can say for certain are ACTUALLY from another world, so instead let's just talk about a few that sound like they are. Jawbreaker's Perfect Song
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Рік тому
"Want" by Jawbreaker is a pretty cool song. Dare I say, a perfect one, and I'm gonna ramble about why.
Thank you for making videos. I wish you had more views, but I’m a sense it’s nice having that feeling of being apart of a special little group. Like we’re all in a clubhouse, and you’re on stage playing, and we’re just sitting around listening to you and talking about how awesome your videos are.
One lyrical thing I love is in Jane. The first verse has “Was dazzled by her smile while I shopped there” while the final verse has “Still dazzled by her smile while I shoplift there”.
The Love We're In was our first dance wedding song.
My favorite series of his is probably "Katsu!!"
My all time favorite concert was the Wrens at Pitchfork Fest in the mid 2000s. The whole crowd knew every word. It was a triumphant, communal experience.
This video is really really good
Thank you for this, I’ve been looking for some new music anime to check out
As a gigantic barenaked ladies fan, you hit the nail on the head. But the two things that I think you got the *most right* are Rock Spectacle being a good starting album - that was my first album of theirs, and yeah. Look where that’s gotten me, I’m working on a video ranking all their songs. And secondly, using Straw Hat and Dirty Old Hank as the demonstration of why the album stands on its own, despite being a live album, and Steven’s range. I constantly go back and forth fighting between whether I like the studio version of the song better - I prefer the violins to the accordion - or the live version, because Steve’s vocals there make the narrative of the song even more frightening. And ending with that bit from Tonight Is The Night I Fell Asleep at the Wheel? Well played man, I can tell that you care a lot about this band, which is always just. So refreshing in our One Week, Pinch Me, and Another Postcard dominated climate 😭
Yo what anime is the scene at 21:55 from??
Sonny Boy
@@ShoesInTheDryer Thank you!!!!! Video was AMAZING btw
Of course they are! The first time I heard One Week I loved it so much
Thanks to you, I read the whole of Cross Game in 3 days. I'm grateful.
Your truly amazing at what you do. I hope you enjoy the process of video making and continue to put your heart into these videos of yours.
SERU GIRAN (1978-1982) Charly Garcia: piano, keys and voice. Pedro Aznar: bass, piano and voice. David Lebón: guitar, percussion and voice. Oscar Moro: drums and percussion.
Just finished reading H2 in a span of 5 days and i never felt so empty after reading a manga since vagabond.
This is such an amazing video man, the editing and the way you explained what makes Adachis works feels special truly hites the mark. Good job!
They are the best. I had an obscure cassette in '89ish with alternate lyrics to $1M. I wish I still had it, it was completely different lyrics to the treehouse verse.
L no Boris mention
NO JODAN , ESTE ÑATO ES DE GONZALEZ CATAN Y SE HACE EL GRINGO 🤣 SABE MAS DE SERU QUE MUCHOS COMPATRIOTAS ... NO QUEDA MAS REMEDIO QUE FELICITARLO !!!
have you ever listened to almendra? if you havent please listen to them, they are to my opinion the second best group of latin america.Althought the lyrics are way too melancholic,it worths it,every minute and second,AND milisecond. Its a beautiful group. Also the vocalist of Almendra is also the vocalist of Pescado Rabioso!,i used my bad english to write this comment,so sorry if there is ortographics errors or things that dont make sense. Also thanks for bringing Seru giran's music to your country and making a video of it.
I am shocked for seeing Charly Garcia in the video. SAY NO MORE
yes yes Japan is my favorite band
Where's Nana?!
It’s great to hear someone praise the band on all their talent. Excellent work!
Waiting for this video to blow up - it's so damn good for its level of recognition
beck is the best music anime, not even close.
What’s everyone’s all time and current favorite Japanese artist/band? My all time is Utada Hikaru or indigolaend but my current favorite is Hitsujibungaku
Two more works that use traditional Japanese music are: "Kono Oto Tomare", and "Mashiro no Oto:. Also, another couple of anime that use music as the vehicle for a great story are: "Nodame Cantabile" (I saw a clip of couple of seconds of that at the beginning of the video), and "Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso". "Hibike! Euphonium" is another good coming-of-age story that. Finally, a gem that is not often mentioned when it comes to anime music is: "Detroit Metal City".
very nice video, I recommend the Hanatarashi LP by Hanatarash
As a Latin American rock fan, thanks for spreading the word and showing a bigger audience about the amazing group that Serú Girán is you definitely need to talk about Spinetta and make a video solely about Charly 🥰✨✨
Whos the girl singing on 10:27?
I'm glad I'm not the only one out here saying this.
I have always loved their songs. So many 'favorites'. War on Drugs blew me away the first time I heard it. Old Apartment and It's All Been Done probably my top 2. With all due respect to the current band members, I continue to pray that somehow, someday Steve returns and rejoins the band. 🙏🏼
best bandd
One of the most enjoyable videos I have come across in a long time
Listen Spinetta!
I love sunshower
I'm in the uk and I'm going to see BNL for the first time this Thursday after being a fan for 25 years. Can't wait!
Great Video! Seru is one of the best bands ever!
If you love seru giran, you should listen to Spinetta and his bands like Almendra, Pescado Rabioso or Invisible
You become an adachi fan when you can tell his different characters apart series to series.
I love adachi. By far my favourite author
Life in a Nutshell is a great song off of Maybe You Should Drive, but the live version on Rock Spectacle is 10x better.
This could be an awesome series if you did some similar videos but about other countries too
Stay tuned
